Translation Services FAQ
What do I need to do to have documents translated?
The following items are required to prepare a translation:
- The first and last name of the applicant, a contact e-mail address, and the source language of the document to be translated.
- High quality electronic copies of the document(s) to be translated (e.g., all text is in focus, clearly legible, and unobstructed from view).
- Payment in full for the requested translation service.
How long does it take to complete a translation?
The time to complete translations may vary between 1 to 5 business days depending on the amount of text and if any extensive formatting is required. An estimated time of completion is provided when a quote is generated.
Do I need to send original documents?
No, EP Translations accepts scanned electronic submissions of documents to be translated. These documents may be submitted as a quote request or directly to firstname.lastname@example.org.
What do I do if I have questions about my completed translation?
EP Translations’ primary mode of communication is via e-mail. Questions concerning completed translations should always be directed in writing to email@example.com. We are happy to assist with or clarify any concerns regarding a translation over the phone, however, we ask that a written e-mail be sent after the call. Our translations are literal and word-for-word; we do not interpret word meanings or evaluate documents as part of our translation services. Revision requests for translations containing errors are granted free of charge up to six months from the time of the original translation’s completion. A service fee of $60.00 will be applied thereafter but does not guarantee the revision request will be approved.
Will I have to pay more for my translation if I have more than one degree or diploma?
Quotes are determined based on the number of documents submitted, the amount of text, and any formatting requirements. Your translation will cost more with each document you submit.
What is the difference between an evaluation and translation?
A credential evaluation report determines the US equivalency of any foreign academic credentials. A translation is a literal and word-for-word version of foreign language documents without any form of interpretation.
Must I use Educational Perspectives’ translation services if I am ordering an evaluation?
No. Translation services are offered as a convenience to our customers. Translations prepared by a reputable translation agency or by a certified, professional translator will be accepted.
How will you translate my name if spelled differently in another script?
Our translators follow specific guidelines when it comes to the transliteration of your name in one script into the Latin alphabet. Your name will appear on the certification page of the translation however you specified it in your quote request.
How do you calculate your quotes?
The number of documents, the amount of text, and any extensive formatting required is taken into consideration when generating a price quote for the translation service. A page is considered to be approximately 250 words.
Do you offer any discounts?
We do not offer any discounts on individual translation quotes at present.
Are you ATA certified?
Yes, our translators are ATA certified in translating in over 60 languages from the source to the target language. Educational Perspectives is a corporate member of ATA and our membership number is 272842.
